Renewable energy is energy which can be used again and again and will never run out.
An example of this type of energy is wind power.
In the past two decades, researchers have designed a 30 metre high wind turbine which can generate electricity.
They are often located in flat, open, exposed areas of land.
Wind power is expensive to set up, but its return in terms of how much electricity it generates, can be compared favourably with other forms of electricity generation.
Wind farms are pollution free and take up very little land, and the ground between the turbines can still be used for farming.
However, local people are often against wind turbines as they feel they are an eyesore, they disrupt TV reception and can be very noisy.
