Human body is controlled by two major systems:

These systems are linked together by the hypothalamus

Reflex arc is an instant uncontrolled action:

sensory neurone > relay neurone > motor neurone

Postural reflex, e.g. knee jerk, maintains position and body control without conscious adjustment
